The loveliest spot that
      man hath ever known

Dove bistro makeover gets a big thumbs up

Posted Oct 28, 2013

The Dove Bar and Bistro is located next door to the Grasmere-based hotel and has always been the ideal place for people to eat away from the more formal surroundings of the Wordsworth itself.

Now there are treats aplenty for the eyes as well as for the taste buds.

The bistro and bar combined has had an overhaul to improve its interior and now manages to combine a light, airy and modern feel with quaint and quirky rustic elements.

White beams make a statement above diner's heads, whilst country cottage style dining chairs and bold purple armchairs sit side by side ready for diners to rest their weary bones.

The menu offers something for all tastes with dishes inspired by cuisine from all over Europe and whether you are looking for a hearty meal or just a light course, there is something to satisfy all appetites. To drink there is a selection of wines and ales including the very special Wordsworth's Golden, an ale available exclusively at the Wordsworth Hotel. A roaring log fire only adds to the cosy atmosphere when lit through the colder months.

The Dove Bar and Bistro is the ideal place to entertain guests the night before a wedding or a great place to get friends and family together for a spot of informal dining what ever the occasion for that matter.

Since the bistro and bar has reopened following its makeover, there have been very positive reviews from visitors. Commenting on the tripadviser website, one very contented diner said it was “so good we ate there twice”, whilst another satisfied customer summarised their experience with the words, “good food quaint place”.
