CHEF DE PARTIE

Our elegant Signature Restaurant is famed for its excellent wine list and award-winning fine dining, awarded an AA rosette for culinary excellence. Quietly sophisticated, the Signature has become a destination in its own right. We have an exciting opportunity for a Chef de Partie to join our acclaimed kitchen team. You will be passionate about food and be committed to going the extra mile for our guests, taking pride in our brand service values. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with excellent time management skills, will work autonomously and as part of a team and must be able to plan and prioritise their work load. Previous experience within an AA rosette kitchen is desirable.

The primary purpose of the job is to provide excellent standards of food and consistent service at all times to maximise customer satisfaction.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities :

  • Run and supervise any kitchen section to the required standards set by management.
  • Ensure all preparation of the designated section is complete and ready for each service
  • Responsible for orders and maintaining good stock and waste control
  • Responsible for the quality control of stock and prepared foods
  • Execute cooking to the expected high standard quickly and efficiently
  • Ensure that stock is rotated and controlled within the specific section of the kitchen.
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of the full menu and be able to explain dish descriptions.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of the designated section, including fridges is monitored and maintained to the required standard
  • Support Head Chef and Sous Chef in delivering required standard of food, and kitchen operation
  • Support junior chefs and apprentices in their development
  • Maintain a positive and proactive attitude at all times
  • Actively seek to improve skills and achieve personal development
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
  • Comply at all times with the Staff Code of Conduct
  • Comply with the provisions of your contract and any of our Company Policies and set an example for more junior members of staff
  • Seek to ensure at all times that all visitors or guests on our sites have the best experience possible.
  • To ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming.
  • To be on-time for all shifts and to ensure that you sign in and out for every shift worked. Ensuring 30 minute break where applicable is taken and recorded.

RESTAURANT MANAGER

The Signature Restaurant holds an AA rosette award and is one of the village’s finest restaurants serving both lunch and dinner to residents and non-residential guests, with delicious seasonal menus, created with local produce. Next door is ‘Dove Bistro’, where traditional pub classics can be enjoyed with a glass of hand-pulled ale.  We are seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager, passionate about food and delivering an amazing dining experience for our guests, who will lead and train our team of staff and operate our busy restaurant. The successful candidate will have excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills to manage and support the F&B team and go the extra mile for our guests. This is a hands-on role and you will need the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Previous experience of managing and training staff and working in a busy 3/4* hotel is required.   Experience of managing perishable stock and delivering catering services in accordance with food hygiene legislation and best practice is essential, as are IT skills including competency in Word and Excel.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE ASSISTANT

The Wordsworth Hotel is currently looking to recruit a Food & Beverage Assistant, reporting into the Food & Beverage management team. The main responsibilities of the role will be to the day to day duties of meal service operations across breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner – and including function and events when required.  The role will involve significant guest interaction so customer service expectations will be a high priority and well as the ability to work closely with the kitchen team and other hotel departments to ensure a smooth guest experience. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a positive ‘can-do’ attitude and the ability to develop good working relationships with staff members. Previous experience in working within a 3/4* hotel or quality restaurant or bar, experience of working in a busy environment and basic food hygiene knowledge is desirable.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • To set-up of the meeting rooms/ private dining rooms and food and beverage outlets where applicable by liaising with the Housekeeping and F&B teams
  • To maintain the Reception, food and beverage outlets, public areas, stores, back office and staff areas in a clean and tidy condition.
  • To maintain a comfortable atmosphere in the public areas by controlling and monitoring heating, lighting, music/TV
  • To know all menu items and describe them to the guests
  • To operate the POS
  • To serve food and beverage as per company standards
  • To operate the bar and restaurant to the agreed hotel standards
  • To ensure that all monies are kept in a safe and secure area adopting the hotels cash handling procedures
  • To balance all financials at the end of your shift
  • To deal with any guest queries/complaints in a polite and friendly manner ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • To ensure all complaints, comments, special requests and other business are recorded in the daily handover log or reported to the duty manager
  • To ensure clear communications with other departments to ensure minimal impact on guest service
  • To be proactive in generating sales and referring sales leads as well as upselling products and services where possible
  • To continuously seek to improve the hotel’s efficient operation, and knowledge of own job function
  • To attend all training meetings and departmental meetings as requested

HOUSEKEEPER

We are currently looking to recruit a Housekeeper to join our housekeeping team, reporting into the Head Housekeeper. The role will include daily cleaning of bedrooms, bathrooms and public areas to the required standard within the time frame set out by the company. You’ll be required to perform stock checks and replenishment of consumables as well as communicating closely with the maintenance team to facilitate a smooth and enjoyable guest experience. You will need to be aware of and comply with statutory requirements regarding the work place such as health and safety, hygiene, fire prevention, manual handling and chemicals and other substances that may be hazardous to your health.

Although full training will be given, previous experience in a housekeeping role within a 3/4* hotel and a knowledge of C.O.S.S.H. would be advantageous. The ideal candidate will need a keen eye for detail, the ability to work alone and as part of a team and able to work flexibly over weekends and weekdays. You must have a keen attention to detail and be committed to going the extra mile for our guests and colleagues.
