JUNIOR SOUS CHEF

Our elegant Signature Restaurant is famed for its excellent wine list and award-winning fine dining, awarded an AA rosette for culinary excellence. Quietly sophisticated, the Signature has become a destination in its own right. We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Sous Chef to join our acclaimed kitchen team. You will be passionate about food and be committed to going the extra mile for our guests, taking pride in our brand service values. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with excellent time management skills, will work autonomously and as part of a team and must be able to plan and prioritise their work load. Previous experience within an AA rosette kitchen is desirable.

The primary purpose of the job is to provide excellent standards of food and consistent service at all times to maximise customer satisfaction.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities :

  • Run and supervise any kitchen section to the required standards set by management.
  • Ensure all preparation of the designated section is complete and ready for each service
  • Responsible for orders and maintaining good stock and waste control
  • Responsible for the quality control of stock and prepared foods
  • Execute cooking to the expected high standard quickly and efficiently
  • Ensure that stock is rotated and controlled within the specific section of the kitchen.
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of the full menu and be able to explain dish descriptions.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of the designated section, including fridges is monitored and maintained to the required standard
  • Support Head Chef and Sous Chef in delivering required standard of food, and kitchen operation
  • Support junior chefs and apprentices in their development
  • Maintain a positive and proactive attitude at all times
  • Actively seek to improve skills and achieve personal development
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

ASSISTANT RESTAURANT MANAGER

We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Assistant Restaurant Manager of our award winning Signature Restaurant. As an Assistant Restaurant Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of the Restaurant operation and assisting the Restaurant  Manager in ensuring we are consistently improving our standards and ensuring that all sales opportunities and relevant cost controls within your department are maximised. At times you will need to deal effectively and courteously with all customer complaints and comments, taking action to remedy and improve standards and/or escalate as appropriate.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a high volume and high standard similar operation at a supervisory level and possess excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills to support, and work with others from different parts of the hotel. This is a hands-on role and you’ll need a proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, maintaining attention to detail. We are looking for someone with excellent customer focus and who shows genuine care; proven experience and desire to provide great service to high standards, that include warmth, respect, informality and professionalism.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE ASSISTANT

The Wordsworth Hotel is currently looking to recruit a Food & Beverage Assistant, reporting into the Food & Beverage management team. The main responsibilities of the role will be to the day to day duties of meal service operations across breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner – and including function and events when required.  The role will involve significant guest interaction so customer service expectations will be a high priority and well as the ability to work closely with the kitchen team and other hotel departments to ensure a smooth guest experience. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a positive ‘can-do’ attitude and the ability to develop good working relationships with staff members. Previous experience in working within a 3/4* hotel or quality restaurant or bar, experience of working in a busy environment and basic food hygiene knowledge is desirable.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • To set-up of the meeting rooms/ private dining rooms and food and beverage outlets where applicable by liaising with the Housekeeping and F&B teams
  • To maintain the Reception, food and beverage outlets, public areas, stores, back office and staff areas in a clean and tidy condition.
  • To maintain a comfortable atmosphere in the public areas by controlling and monitoring heating, lighting, music/TV
  • To know all menu items and describe them to the guests
  • To operate the POS
  • To serve food and beverage as per company standards
  • To operate the bar and restaurant to the agreed hotel standards
  • To ensure that all monies are kept in a safe and secure area adopting the hotels cash handling procedures
  • To balance all financials at the end of your shift
  • To deal with any guest queries/complaints in a polite and friendly manner ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • To ensure all complaints, comments, special requests and other business are recorded in the daily handover log or reported to the duty manager
  • To ensure clear communications with other departments to ensure minimal impact on guest service
  • To be proactive in generating sales and referring sales leads as well as upselling products and services where possible
  • To continuously seek to improve the hotel’s efficient operation, and knowledge of own job function
  • To attend all training meetings and departmental meetings as requested
  • To attend seminars / training courses as required
  • To complete online training modules
  • To carry out any other ad hoc duties as directed by all management
  • To provide an efficient and friendly service to guests at all times
  • To portray a positive and can-do attitude at all times to both customers and colleagues alike
  • To accept flexible work schedule necessary for uninterrupted service to hotel guests
  • To wear presentable full uniform and name badge when on duty
  • To ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming
  • To be on-time for all shifts and to ensure that you sign in and out for every shift worked. Ensuring 30 minute break where applicable is taken and recorded
  • To have a full understanding of the hotels’ fire procedures to ensure safety of all staff and guests at all times.

As Restaurant & Bistro Supervisor you will oversee the team and take responsibility for the Restaurant department in the absence of the Restaurant Manager. KITCHEN PORTER 

£: Over 21’s – £9.40 per hour, Under 21’s – £7.40 per hour

Hours of Work: Part time,  20 hours minimum per week, zero-hour contract 

We are seeking a kitchen porter to join our Food & Beverage Team. Your role will be to keep the main kitchen, banquet kitchen and back of house and bin areas clean and tidy at all times. Reporting directly to the Head Chef or Sous Chef in his absence you will ensure that all crockery is stored correctly and that the surplus is stored away, collect from stores and deliver to the main kitchen all store items and ensure that they are put away and carry out planned cleaning scheduled by the Supervisor to maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen and associated areas.

RECEPTIONIST

We are looking for a receptionist to join our friendly team. Providing a warm welcome and a can-do attitude, as part of the reception team you are the first point of contact for many guests. You will be dealing with reservations and requests from guests, whether by email, phone or face to face.
